Before our world was, the ancient gods had another world far away in the depths of space. Among those gods was the lesser goddess Nemesis. She was the youngest of the gods and the least powerful, she was full of envy at the gods who had created the land for she too wished to create things. She begged and pleaded with the gods, but they denied her the powers to create.

Now in this world there was a smith, an evil man who despised the gods and wished them dead. Nemesis heard of this man and decided to visit him, cloaking her features and changing her appearance to look like a mortal. She visited the smith and learned of a weapon created that would destroy even the most powerful immortal. She bought the weapon and began plotting her path to power.

That night while the gods were resting she snuck into the room of the High God and murdered him in his sleep, stealing his powers of creation. The other gods felt this and came after Nemesis. Nemesis fled, stealing lands and creatures from the world to create her own world. With her newly obtained powers, there was nothing the immortals could do to stop her.

The Worlds of Nemesis is a Role-Playing MUD (Multi-User-Dungeon) that is currently run by Christopher Lengel and friends. It runs on the SMAUG 1.8 code, created by Derek Snyder and the SMAUG Development Team. The game contains many additions added by Christopher, consisting both of popular snippets and unique additions. Visit SMAUG.org for more information on the SMAUG codebase.

The Worlds of Nemesis received its first award from the Festival of MUD on May 29th, 2004. Quite a few immortals and mortals RSVP'd to attend the festival, and Riddik, Solkanor, and Christian all attended the event. Unknown to all of us, we received the award later on in the festival, coming as a complete surprise to all of us at the Worlds of Nemesis. We want to thank Kris Craig and the International MUD Recognition Committee (I.M.R.C.) for recognizing us and giving us an award for Excellence.
